Justine Rudman

Justine has been studying yoga for the past 30 years, She first started yoga to help ease back pain associated with scoliosis (curvature of the spine) in her early twenties.  She continued to study yoga and realized its immense physical, mental and spiritual benefits.  This inspired her to become a teacher and help others along this path.

Originally from the U.K., Justine has lived in Asia and traveled extensively in India, Tibet and Ladakh, exploring Buddhism, yoga and many different forms of meditation.  The highlights of her thirty years of yoga experience include studying in Pune, India with the Iyengars, studying Ashtanga & Iynegar yoga in Rishikesh, taking a 10 day silent Vipassana meditation retreat in Jaipur and a month-long meditation retreat in remote Ladakh. She also completed the 2 year “Advanced Studies/Teacher Training” course at The Iyengar Institute in San Francisco,    “Teaching yoga to Pregnant women and Doula Training” by Judith Lasater, & Regina Brunig and “Teaching yoga and Scoliosis training” by Elise Miller.

Justine continued her yoga practice throughout her pregnancies and as a mother of her three children.  She now uses all of these experiences to help beginners/level 1-2 practitioners and those with injuries and chronic conditions learn the benefits of yoga.  Her classes focus on learning proper alignment for each pose to gain strength, stability and increased mobility from holding poses for longer. She uses props to assist her students and support their physical needs but encourages more advanced students to deepen their poses and their practice. She has a gentle and encouraging manner but will push you to really be in the pose, in the moment.

Justine lives in Mill Valley with her husband and three teenagers and loves hiking, camping and rock climbing with her family in Marin and all over the world.
