Roy, a San Luis Obispo-raised artist with Texas roots, studied under key figures of the Bay Area Abstractionist Movement at San Francisco State University. After a global career in telecommunications, he returned to painting full-time, drawing on the cultural and natural beauty of the places he’s lived. Influenced by artists like Miró and Basquiat, his abstract, narrative-rich works invite viewers to bring their own stories into the experience.
